Description
After years of the original Airwrap dominating the market, Dyson has finally integrated smart technology into our morning routines. We decided to put the Dyson Airwrap i.d.™ Multi-Styler to the test to see if “Bluetooth connectivity” is a genuine hair-care revolution or just a tech gimmick. As someone who struggles with heat damage from traditional curling irons and wants a “salon blowout” look at home, I was eager to see if this Allure Winner could truly deliver professional results on straight-to-wavy hair without the extreme heat.
2. Key Technology Analysis: Beyond the Coanda Effect
The strength of the Dyson Airwrap i.d.™ lies in its Intelligent Heat Control and the newly evolved Coanda effect.
i.d. curl™ Technology: This is the standout feature. By connecting to the MyDyson™ app via Bluetooth, the styler programs a personalized curling sequence. It automates the wrap, the style, and the “cold shot” to set the curl based on your specific hair profile.
No Heat Damage: Unlike traditional irons that use red-hot plates ($200^{\circ}C+$), the Airwrap measures airflow temperature over 40 times a second, keeping it under $150^{\circ}C$.
Versatility: The 6-in-1 attachments (including the new conical barrel and large round volumizing brush) are engineered for “Complete Long” hair, ensuring that even the ends of long tresses are captured and styled efficiently.
3. Personal Experience: Testing the Bluetooth “i.d. curl”
The first thing you notice about the Ceramic Pink edition is the premium build quality. Using the i.d. curl™ feature for the first time felt futuristic. After inputting my hair length and type into the app, the styler knew exactly how long to hold the heat and when to trigger the cold shot.
The texture of my hair after styling felt significantly different than when using a standard wand. It felt “plump” and hydrated, likely because it styles using air rather than crushing the hair cuticle with hot metal. I found that the Conical Barrel was perfect for getting closer to the root for more volume, while the Fast Dryer attachment took my hair from damp to “style-ready” in under three minutes. For those looking to maintain this level of hair health, pairing this tool with a high-quality hair care routine is essential to keep that salon shine between washes.
4. Pros and Cons
Pros:
Personalized Styling: Bluetooth connectivity takes the guesswork out of “how long to hold.”
Safety: Zero risk of burning your ears or scalp.
Complete Kit: The 6-in-1 versatility replaces a hair dryer, straightener, and curler.
Stunning Aesthetic: The Ceramic Pink finish is a beautiful addition to any vanity.
Cons:
Price Point: At $649, it is a significant luxury investment.
Learning Curve: Even with the “i.d.” automation, mastering the Coanda wrapping technique takes a few tries.
5. A Worthy Upgrade?
The Dyson Airwrap i.d.™ is undeniably the most advanced hair tool on the market in 2026. While the price is high, you are paying for the prevention of long-term hair damage and the convenience of smart technology.
Comparison: Compared to the Shark FlexStyle, the Dyson feels more balanced in the hand, and the Bluetooth “i.d. curl” provides a much more consistent result for beginners. If you are someone who styles your hair 3-4 times a week, the time saved and the health of your hair make this a “buy once, cry once” investment.

Reviews :
I purchased this item as a gift after hearing great reviews from other purchasers. After witnessing it being used every night, I would like to compliment the Airwrap’s quiet noise level, efficiency, and versatility. Despite the weight of the entire box, the attachments themselves allow the user to pick what hairstyle they want. With one attachment chosen, the user is able to alter the heat and speed level to their liking, which has definitely allowed damp hair to dry quicker than other dryers we have tried. Furthermore, the quality of the Airwrap is second to none, allowing the hair to be styled and dried with minimal hair damage. As mentioned before, picking one or two attachments allows it to be an easy accessory to travel with. Finally, the cost of this item was not too bad. While other hairdryers may offer similar services for cheaper, I’ve found that the dyson airwrap cost was fair and not incredibly expensive.
